The Avengers (New/Mighty/Dark)

K...Bendis' love affair with 70s Marvel can stop now. It's getting boring. Daimon Hellstrom is not a good character.

I'm really hoping it's a mislead and that the Hood kills him. Not a fan of him at all. I was really hoping that Wiccan was going to be the SS.

On a side note, I realized upon reading MA today that I hadn't read the previous issue. I really liked the twist they put on Wanda.

Spoiler: "Wanda" is really Loki

Reread the last issue of MA and I have to say that I'm enjoying this more than Dark Avengers and right now it's up to par with NA for me. Sandoval is a pretty good artist and is a good alternate to Pham if he doesn't end up being a permanent artist. There was a lot of Cabal scenes in this last issue and I really like to see the cracks starting to appear in the group. Quicksilver's "I was a skrull" coming out was pretty ingenious to reconcile his pretty shady actions in past years and the Wasp's mentoring of Stature seems like it could be pretty decent

I haven't been digging the Mighty Avengers run so far, it just seems like a useless team, at least when Tony was running it there were some storytelling elements to it but Hank leading the team just seems like it can't last. I do like the characters though and I think adding Cho and Herc to a team is great.

The other thing that annoys me is that Quicksilver shouldn't have his speed. He was de-powered after M-day and got different powers through the terrigen crystals but I don't remember him ever getting his speed back and that seems like a big plot-hole, especially with him being the cause of House of M and him losing his powers really defining his character in the post House of M Marvel U.

Read the last issue of Dark Avengers where they revealed the super-Cabal (do they have a name yet?). Pretty interesting. Recognized Dormamu, Enchantress, Mephisto, Nightmare, but not the other guy (was that Molecule Man?). I’m definitely interested to see where this goes.

And what’s the deal with not even acknowledging the Sentry’s wife shooting off his face? I’m not a big Sentry-hater, but he’s literally been killed now 3 times during the series, with very little explanation of how he’s coming back. It’s like he’s become the Kenny (South Park) of Dark Avengers. Supposedly, there’s an upcoming annual that explains a lot; I definitely hope they do.

And with the last issue of New Avengers, it was a pretty sweet fight between the two teams. Loved the battle between Ares and Bucky Cap, with him just unloading a round of bullets in Ares’ face. It was also the first time that I felt really impressed by Immonen’s art on this title.

Even though he was comatose for most of the issue, the last one was a really good character issue for Luke Cage. I really liked the double page spread of everyone who volunteered to help break him out of the SHIELD Helicarrier. Wasn’t sure how someone like Valkyrie and Hellcat have ties to Luke Cage, but still the point was driven across very nicely that Luke has always been there to help out and never asked for others to help him out.

I still feel like this series has been floating around without a clear direction, but it was definitely an enjoyable issue
